Refract Mail

Terms of Service

Effective October 3, 2026

These terms apply to your use of Refract Mail, a macOS app developed by Michał Mandrysz (“we”, “us”), and of this website. By installing or using Refract Mail you agree to them.

Using Refract Mail

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Refract Mail on Macs you own or control. You may not resell or redistribute the app, or remove its notices.

Refract Mail works with the Google accounts you add to it, and acts only on your instructions: what you send, archive, label or move to Trash is your doing, and you are responsible for the mail you send with it. You remain bound by Google's own terms for your Google account.

Beta software

Refract Mail is in beta. It may contain bugs, change without notice, or stop working — for example if Google changes its services. Your mail itself always remains in your Google account, but please don't rely on Refract Mail as the only way to reach it.

Privacy

How the app handles your data is described in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms. In short: your data goes between your Mac and Google, and never to us.

No warranty

Refract Mail is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, mail or profits, arising from your use of Refract Mail. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Refract Mail in the twelve months before the claim, if any.

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be waived.

Trademarks

Refract Mail is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Google. Gmail and Google are trademarks of Google LLC. Mac and macOS are trademarks of Apple Inc.

Ending these terms

You can stop using Refract Mail at any time by deleting it and withdrawing its access at myaccount.google.com/connections. We may end your licence if you break these terms.

Changes

We may update these terms. The new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date, and continuing to use Refract Mail after that means you accept it.
